Tarot Card Designs

An ongoing personal project where I redesign select tarot cards in an attempt to explore my own artistic style.

The First Set

The First Set

The following three cards were the first ever cards I designed in my senior year of high school. These are reinterpretations of the tarot cards that relate to me the most.

Being a Canadian-born Chinese artist, these card designs tell a story depicting the journey and experience of an asian female growing up in North America.

The traditional oriental subjects are tied in with the meanings of the tarot cards, which originated from western countries. This combines the styles and messages of two distinct cultures, describing the feeling of being caught in-between, and being unsure of which cultural background I identify with most. This series digs deep into my cultures' roots and brings out the aesthetic nature of both sides.
